a lot going on

no one knows what it’s like, to be the bad man,  my playlist just started playing “Behind Blue eyes” when i opened live writer, and that was the first thing I could write, hope you don’t mind. It’s chilling out there, made myself a hot coffee and nothing better than this struck my mind than writing down a post.

starting with the things “GOING ON”, my final days of driving classes are on. have to pass a driving test on 8th of this month. obviously it is quite tough as they give only chance to park it properly without crossing the marks, so let’s see what happens.

I’m still left out with a bit of shopping before joining. have to see this doc one last time for some normal checkup, hope i can do this by this weekend. then there’s this documentation stuff which is killing me. I think i’ll get somebody to help me out with that thing. :-/

ASPIRE- TCS Pre ILP program. it is a online program where you’ve to read stuff and answer quizzes about them. i hope that’s easy. And finally, cousin’s wedding.

i know that the list is too short, but for someone who sleeps till 1 in the afternoon and spends the rest of his time playing online. this is asking for a lot !

adios!

sands of time

yes i watched Prince of Persia lately, i liked the game but the movie is a so so.. thanks to Gemma Arterton, she’s HOT  ^_^ . i wonder what i might have done if i could turn back time. May be i should just jot down all the major things that happened in the past 2 years. That should help me find out. so here it goes..

July 2011- 3rd year of college started

August, September, October just went normal.

November- Delhi>> Metallica >> friends>> holiday .  (  show got cancelled though  :-/  ) . but the trip was awesome.

December- nothing but semester exams and a quiet training at BSNL. I liked it there. got a roommate, who was very surprisingly a ditto look alike of one of my college buddy. both of them freaked out when i showed them each others photos. LOL

January 2012- girlfriend's brothers’ wedding again with friends. Had a great time.

May- training at Siemens, sister came to know about my girlfriend, she was cool, i knew she would like her  :) , and the months in between were boring so didn’t mention.

now everything starts here..

August- college final year.. placements and stuff.  sat for AFCAT exam as well.  AFCAT is an entrance exam for India Air Force (IAF). First company which came for recruitment was Aricent, didn’t get selected. some close friend along with my girlfriend got selected though.

September- 30th of the month TCS came for recruitment.

October- 2nd of October. GOT PLACED. the feeling was ecstatic. :) had an even better Durga puja back home.

November- gave exams like CAT, NMAT, IIFT.. filled applications for XAT, GATE & CMAT as well.

December- back home for winter holiday , planned a school reunion. reunion went well, but i had a road traffic accident on 31st. It was my sister’s birthday. the one she want to forget.

Untitled

January 2013- left with compound multiple fractures on right hand and leg, i’d to undergo a severe surgery. released from hospital after 10 days but i could only sit that too not my myself.

February- 19th on the month. stood for the first time, with support of course.. in the mean time converted some IIM calls and also IAF. But alas there was more of this terrible time to pass.

March- had a second surgery cause there were lots of complications, but it did no good. My 8 year old pet, a Belgian rabbit passed away. guess he knew we’re going to have a hard time ahead. so he left to give us some place to breathe.

April- came back college somehow on a wheelchair, sat for exams, gave presentation. and went back on 15th may

May- 17th undergone my 3rd surgery at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. the next day was my birthday, couldn’t remember most of it though.

June – October- been on bed, resting. a bit of physiotherapy, prepared for MBA entrances one more time.

November- on my feet once again. i can walk now. never felt the importance of legs this much ever before this one year.

December- here i am now. writing down everything i can remember, and thinking about anything that i might have missed, cause i really doubt my memory .

so as they say, “ life is like an hourglass. Eventually everything hits bottom, all you have to do is wait it out until someone comes along and turns it around ” :)

i don’t know who “they” are but i got it from google :P

Peace!

long lost

2:04 AM – 30-Dec-13. this is what i can see right now on the lower right corner of my screen. hold on.. it’s 2:05 now..  :P  time sure runs away :)

i still remember what i did last year on this very day, and what followed the next day..  Anyways a quick recap.. last post on July 2011.. now after like how many months .. let me count..2 years 5 months and 29 days to be exact… i’m writing one more time… long time indeed..

I’ve forgotten almost everything about this blog.. for starters the fonts and font sizes i used and lots of other stuffs.. guess in need some experimenting to find out .. won’t be a big problem i guess, cause i don’t think there are lot many people whose take such a pain in their a** to read my blog. :D

jokes apart.. i’ve lot to speak about. i mean it.. i repeat .. I”VE A LOT TO SPEAK ABOUT.. and when i say lot, its really lot, like a really lot lot.. and lot  and lot  and lot …  these past two years had been the busiest time i ever had till now.. gained things, lost things as well. guess this is how conservation of everything works.. :)

i’ll try to write everything here because what happened in the past two years has left a big mark in my life..  so lets see how i do.. cause i’m lazy as hell… all i’m going to say is..  “BRACE YOURSELVES , POSTS ARE COMING”   :P

It was the 3rd day of my summer training here in Steel Authority of India limited and things have really started to get better and serious from today. t has been pretty uneventful so far. Well that is not counting the experience gained over the past two months, the things I have learnt, the grub I have had to survive upon Yada yada...

sail-band

As my application was rejected by the authority I was pretty relaxed that my holidays are going to be real fun and work free. But thanks to my dad, who made it a dream for me. As an ex-employee he pulled it off all over again and made an 4th semester student continue his training with other 6th semester guys.

The first 2days were very boring and it very well gave a view of slow running public sectors. What could be quite easily done in a couple of hours, they made us to stay there from 10 to 5 in the evening. After 2days of safety lectures we’re finally allowed to go inside the Steel Plant today. We were provided with a map of the whole area, a security pass, an attendance and schedule sheet and most importantly a helmet. Speaking of us, we’re 8 boys from different colleges, all belonging to “E&TC” branch. We started off at 10. As per schedule our first sector was Wheel and Axle Plant, where railway wheels were made, and I came to know that this is the only place in India where this is made. It also turned out to be the place where my grandpa was in charge during his job. But it wasn’t good news, as we walked for straight 1hour to get to that place. Remember why my father always said that you can’t see the whole place in a single day. After 3 hours of seeing things around how they work we’d to come all the way back. Despite of the tiredness, I was very happy and I enjoyed it a lot.

I hope the next 2 weeks goes well. And I’m pretty sure that I’ll get to see lot more interesting things from tomorrow. .And so on. But that’s the best part; as long as I have something to enjoy, I will have something to blog about too.

a new start

Hello everyone.

Even as I write the above line if wonder if there is even anyone left who reads the author-forsaken blog of mine.

Did I tell you, I’m in a relationship? No. Did I tell you I am enduring Bhubaneswar heat for my summer training? No. Did I tell you I have written horrible 4th semester papers, making all my nightmares come true. No. Did I tell you I lost my lucky Nokia 3230 phone? No. Seems like there is a lot of catching up to be done.

Speaking of Bhubaneswar where I am currently staying, and will continue to for another 20 days I can say a few things I have observed so far here during summers. One, you should always carry water and an umbrella to save yourself from getting killed by the sun. Two, always check your food and drink for vermin, insects and the linke before eating. Three, you can take a bath anytime you want.

Talking about exams, I was quite confident this time regarding my semester exams, as I studied a bit more, rather a lot more than my past 3 semesters. Had good marks in my internals as well. But the second paper of this semester<< DEC paper>>  made it all clear for me that I wasn’t prepared that well. Maybe the confidence was just due to my girlfriend who sits infront of me, and everything changed from the second day as the seating plan was changing daily. I hope to clear all my papers this time. As i lost my phone during my exams, it could probably help me to produce some excuse if anything goes wrong. [:P]

Surely, I want a new start in everything I wish to do good in. And some I don’t really want to continue, like playing Counter Strike whole night. Some things I’ve already started, and some are yet to be. I’m sure I can pull all this up. Just need that start. I’m gonna change..

Having said all that I might also add I spend most of my waking hours playing games and chatting. And hopefully for the next few months as well. When I am not doing that I do some activities for attempting to successfully complete my training on VLSI and embedded systems.

Think that's a long enough post after 3 whole months. Now where is that publish button.

Up on Cloud No. 9

The show was over at around 10:30 pm and we started getting back. We were literally limping and it was hard for us even to walk. We managed to walk out of the venue and booked an auto for us to the station. When we reached we decided to eat something, as we didn’t have anything. To our distress it was 11:30 at night and almost all food courts near the station were closed down. Finally we managed to get into a restaurant cum bar. Had the famous hyderabadi chicken biryani with a full bottle of Budweiser.

After we’re done, we came to the station. We’d our train at 8 am in the morning and we planned to stay in the waiting room. But we’re not allowed to enter the waiting room. We’d to stay at the platform all night. Next day, the train was on time and we got onto our berth and went for a much needed sleep. We woke up around 2 in the afternoon and discussed about the concert and went back to sleep again. At 5 in the evening we came to know about the results of 3rd semester which was declared then only. Everything was going on well including the results as both of us passed in all subjects. We’re happy thinking about the exam days. We’re back to our monastery at 5 in the morning. Finished off the electromagnetic theory assignment and attended the classes from 9:30.

This post has been written in three small parts (though they aren’t small). Please read the bottom two posts first. thank you.

Those were the best days of my life…

From 2 o’ clock in the afternoon till 5 we’re sitting outside the gates for being in the first row of the crowd. In sometime people started gathering around. Some were talking about how he performed in pune. Some talked about how the delhi concert was cancelled. Around 5 the gates were opened, and people started forming lines in 4 columns for the security check. While checking me, he said that I couldn’t take my camera in. I was sent out of the que. I put my camera inside my bag and joined a diff line. And this security wanted to check my bag as well. He let me through despite noticing the cam inside my bag. Guess I was lucky.

DSC03641

As expected we two got in the first row which was around 50 yards from the stage. The DJ was playing his songs and it was really feeling great at that time when each beat coming from those sound towers entered our ears. In no time a whole crowd was there, waiting like us for the legend. 40 feet sound towers, full LED wall made it perfect for the BRYAN ADAMS LIVE IN CONCERT. It was scheduled to start at 7 but somehow got delayed and we couldn’t wait any longer. Each muscle in my legs were begging mercy, guess they were not made to stand for 5 long hours. The time between 7 and 8 was really awful, both the wait and the music. People started cursing the DJ. :P

At last we got to see him. It was Around 20:15 hours when the concert began. He came and started singing.  All of a sudden there was no more pain in our legs, it was as if we’re just complaining because he was late. After 2 songs he said,”hi!! I’m Bryan Adams” . The whole crowd went crazy with his smoky voice when he sung his all time hits, “”summer of ‘69, here i am, heaven, everything i do, let’s make a night, 18 till i die””.

 DSC03660

It was about an hour when suddenly a security jumped in and tried seizing my camera. Warned me to hand him the battery or else he’s going to kick my ass out from there. While he was checking others with cameras I slipped out at the back and saved my battery while others had to give theirs. During this whole stuff I dropped my shades in the crowd and was damn lucky enough to find it after 5 mins without being crushed by someone’s feet. I came forward, back to my position after 15 mins and enjoyed the show. But there was someone even luckier than me, one fan was allowed to come up on stage and sing with Bryan Adams. At the end he asked everyone to put up their cell phones in the air, and he took a picture of that crowd. He finished off with two songs on his acoustic guitar. It was the only time I felt bad because i was running out of storage space on my card and couldn’t record it.

I’m ready to hold you…

I guess I learned that, if u want something or someone you’ve to go for it. Really, we should say YES! to life, YES is the new NO :P <<now much of movie dialogues>> . I am so excited that I feel I must blog about it too, having twittered and facebooked about it already.

“Kritansh”(annual tech fest of KIIT University) commenced on 14th of feb with much hullabaloo but I was quite far away from these stuff as I knew that a much awaited and a much bigger event was in store for me.. As some friends around me were busy making cards and wrapping gifts for their inamorata [:P] , and  I enjoyed one more v-day being single.. New couples started forming in the campus.. heartbreaks and heartaches were the flavor of that day .anyways..the day passed and everything was ready for 15th .. as it all started then only..

My roomie and me started off at around 12 in the afternoon… when we reached the station we came to know that our train was running late by an hour.. spending an hour at the station made us do all that what a bored brain can do.. clicking absurd pictures of rails, peanuts and even the water coolers. The train finally arrived and we’re off to witness something truly awesome… the journey was a bit tiring but we squeezed that tiredness out of our body only to experience the ultimate..

DSC03605

We reached Hyderabad around 11 am. a friend of ours was already there to receive us. Each time we called him informing about our whereabouts, a lady picked up the phone which we guessed as our friend’s mom. But it was his girlfriend, about whom we knew from the 1st days of college.. it was nice meeting both of them. They booked an auto for us, speaking some local language we thought they were booking it at some lower rates..(Though it charged 230 rupees). J we reached the venue in an hour witnessing many things that we’d never seen before.. the city was like same as a contemporary city would be like.. but a PORSCHE and HARLEY DAVIDSON showroom made all the difference. Above all, a black ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM was a thing you would rarely see on Indian roads. Once reached we walked straight to the ticket pick up points and got our passes.. my roomie stated them as the most beautiful thing made of paper…

DSC03635

As informed at the counter the gates were to open at 5 pm.. so we had around 4 hrs to check out that place. Clicked some random pics. And then we had our lunch, it was a Nepali restaurant ,the cuisine was a bit different, rather funny but I liked the food…surprisingly when I took out a large bill to pay the amount, he took his tip by his own and thanked me. then we sat under a tree, my friend smoked some ciggys and then we went back to the venue. Found our way to the silver entry gates and started waiting for them to open.

back with a bang!!!

First of all, millions of apologies for every unfortunate being who stumbled over my blog since the last post (though I know that there would hardly be any such unfortunates). Today I realized something, some things in life are not meant to be understood; they are just supposed to happen. Things both good as well as bad. Things good like 1p/sec calls and things bad like when you have no one to talk to when you really wish to talk.

Updates updates. Since I was missing for the last 2 months, no points guessing that a lot happened over these days. First of all, the boring stuff. Had the 3rd semester exams in the very first week of the month, in which I am not sure how I fared, probably average.(thank the heavens for relative grading and my lab-mate who helped me selflessly during exams). In the third week I was back home and was enjoying some exquisite food. Bought myself a new guitar, an acoustic Granada one. What I learned first to play on it was “Happy Birthday”, which was really loved by my sis on 31st of December. The first week of January was quite busy as I’d a lot of trips here and there. As that wasn’t enough for me I clubbed a trip to a nearby hangout with my friends and it was real fun. Now that I look back at those days, it makes me want to relive it all again. My ten day off campus stay proved to be refreshing, invigorating and of course, calming. Ah well, the holiday ended soon enough and I returned back to my monastery, loaded with gifts, thoughts, and marks, some temporary, others indelible.

Once back on campus, reality seized me by the collar, hissed angrily and said, pull up your socks kid. I realized my classmates have prepared study plans for at least 5 different subjects (which were supposed to add up to our semester marks) and had conveniently left me out alone. And so I spent the entire last week trying to figure out how to invade a single paper ( –_-** ), and of course attempting to look not very surprised when the faculty declared it was “D-day” for submission of some assignment of which I had no clue. Now that I was aware of how considerate my classmates were, I decided to take things slightly differently. I incorporated the ultimate technique of handling pressure of my own devise. “Fukitall”. In other words, I gave up and chilled out. >_> Heh.

The most interesting part of my KIIT Bhubaneswar sophomore year is about to come up sometime this month. It’s the hottest event that marks the beginning of the festivities on campus. And its called, “KRITANSH”. Stay tuned for blow by blow description of the days in the run up to the event. More next time.

Another Quote

“Sometimes you just feel tired, feel weak. When you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up.

but you gotta search within you. gotta find that inner strength and just pull that shit outta you

and get that motivation, to not give up and not be a quitter.

No matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse.”

“Life’s tough, that’s a given. When you stand up you’re gonna be shoved back down, when you’re down, you gonna be stepped on. My advice to you doesn’t come with a lot of bells and whistles, it’s no secret. You’ll fall down, you’ll stumble, you’ll get pushed, you’ll land square on your face. But every time that happened you get back on your feet. You get up just as fast as you can, no matter how many times you need to do it. Remember this, success has been and continues to be defined as getting up one more time when you’ve been knocked down. If experiences taught me anything, it says nothing is free and living in easy. Life’s hard, real hard, and incredibly hard. You fail more often than you win, nobody’s handing you anything, its up-to you to puff up your chest, stretch your neck and overcome all the difficult, the nasty, the mean, and the unfair. You want more than you have now? Prove it! You want to be heard the best there is, get out there and earn it. Once you decide that, you’ll know where it is you want to be and you won’t stop pushing forward until you get there. That’s how winners are made. At the end of the day, success is what we all want, we all wanna win, and the race will be ONE there are no questions about that. So come on, get out on top, run faster, dream bigger, live better than you ever have before. This is in you. You can do this, do it for yourself, and prove it to yourself.”

What’s in a name?

Juliet:

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose

By any other name would smell as sweet”

What matters is, what something is, not what it is called. The “NAME” isn’t everything. You need to go a little bit deeper. Some names can be pretty misleading.

DSC03012

KIIT UNIVERSITY-which holds the crown of being one of the fastest growing educational institutions in the country- stands as a testimony to Orissa’s march in the field of education. With its 16 magnificent campuses, AC classrooms, fully Wi-Fi campus it has a lot to promise. But do they fulfill the promises they make? That is pretty much a moot point. KIIT has a promising future but it leaves much to be desired in the present.

ELECTRONICS & TELE-COMM ENGINEERING- which claims to be one of the royal branches of all time or saying it better it is one. Although the placement logs doesn’t really reflect its majesty in the bygone academic years. What use are these credentials if you don’t really land a good job in Core Company. Subject papers are really very tough, if you don’t keep things up-to date. Students wish that their grades could also smoke weed so that they can get high… :P

DEBAYAN DAPTARY- whose life is moving towards some surely unsure future thinks to him what life would really be like, if this “NAME” thing doesn’t exist and people were actually judged by what they were, as we all say, “naam mein kya rakkha hai”. Eeuarrghhh… that’s a weird noise which I make when I’ve nothing to say, but a lot to express… damn… never mind.

I’m tired

As the third month of 3rd semester almost comes to an end, a hollow feeling begins to sink in. As my life tends to become limited, as if being compacted by a trash crusher I can almost compare it to a monastery cut off from civilization, the occupants of which ~like me~ fear to go out into the real world. It’s not like there is nothing to do out here. Rather there is so much I am supposed to do, that there is very little time for things I want to. More so, I have also forgotten things I wanted to do. Hmm. I am confused.

I vividly remember the last time this happened. I lost my teenage in the mad race called competitive exams and by the time I realized it, I was already out of my teenage. Even to this day, I have to correct mother when she blames my “teen”age for my clumsiness. I remind her of my age, and in the process, get rudely reminded of it myself. Will my history repeat itself, is the question I would like to  ask myself. Seriously, I’m very tensed when mother calls me every time reminding me about my end-semester which are supposedly after a month later. It’s not about fear of exams, but about how to live up to the expectations of my parents at home.

ist2_9746925-cartoon-of-tired-traveller

While attending the lectures in college, I realized some things. In three years time I will be 22. And, as I go on to join the corporate world, straight jacketed in formals, working longer and harder to outperform, to move up the invisible corporate ladder, leaving very little time for myself. Maybe then I will ask this same question to myself again. Am I losing out on something? Here and now. Four wholesome youthful years of my life, are they expendable?

The Sensex is soaring to greater heights everyday and Need for Speed Hot pursuit is going to be reinvented on November 16. With so many exciting things happening around the world, I don’t think I need to go out and make an effort to make news for the time being. So I think I’ll just post this and go to sleep.

Back home

Temperatures are down here at my hometown after another welcome shower last night. Hope this respite is not short lived. As I sit on my couch and hopping from one channel to another endlessly on my TV I couldn’t wait any longer to put down in words my journey back home.

As me and my friend walked up to the reservation counter for the last time before boarding the train enquiring whether the tickets being confirmed or not, I could feel the drums beating in my ears for durgapuja. As expected we’re stuck at W/L Cartoon-Home15 and I was pretty sure that our journey was not going to be comfortable. Fortunately, a guy of our branch came to our rescue with a confirmed ticket. People whom you do not recognize in the hostel are good friends here at the station if they have a confirmed ticket. We three shared the same berth. In 5 hrs every limb of my body was cramped and was screaming for mercy because of the small place I was adjusted in. Finally the night passed and I reached Kolkata at 5:30 AM in the morning. It was cool out there, and I could breathe fresh air and hear my home calling. I rushed out of the station and booked a cab to the nearest bus depot. I was in a rush, but still I managed to take the first bus from there at 6.

The bus broke down due to some engine problem in the middle of nowhere and all the passengers we’re getting really annoyed with it. As my phone was out of charge I’d to borrow iPod from the guy sitting next to me so that I could cut back on the boredom. Unbelievably, the playlist on his iPod was playing Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. This may be the last place where one would expect classical music playing. I guess, our rich culture has still got a chance of surviving after all. My friend was there to receive me at the bus stand. As I walked down the streets I saw preparations for the upcoming puja has already started. As I reached home, I could smell some delicious decadent food made by mum, and that was all I needed then. Now, that’s all... More next time…

Exams>> egg jams…

As I updated my FB status, I came across many of my friends screaming with post exam agony. Some were grudging the length of the paper while some were complaining about the question setup. Ironically, Engineering is not a cup of tea, for guys like me who spend a lot of time in studies… :P

numl_exams Each night had something in common. It began with the search of a teacher in hostel who could explain to us what the syllabus was in plain eng. We skimmed over the tougher topics and grabbed as many marks bearing topics in that period  as we could. To cover a syllabus of 3 months in 8 hrs even partially is not an easy job. Mugging up things was the only resort at that time, explaining and understanding concepts is well and good but not in exam night. Apart from studies there were many serious discussions about the meaning of “life” and other important things that boys like to discuss about. Finally we ended up making the solemn promises that we take every year and never carry out; I m sure it’ll be the same this time too. Every year we make same promises in order to expiate our sins which we committed the whole year. It is definitely not nice to see people sleeping soundly when we’re  up and running ourselves. The nights were spent worrying about what disaster was going to befall us the next day; even there were thoughts planning to skipping this exam and sit for a re-exam which is supposed to happen. Whatever is left of the morning of the exam was spent on writing our worst knowledge on small bits of paper that may help us in the exam. Exam after exam the scenario was repeated monotonously.

stress-cartoon Now exams have ended I shudder to think of that period. And what all I remember is that, when a boundary condition is applied to an adiabatic process, the voltage drop across the load resistance is invariant to the non-linear system, which constructs to call a function showing null deflection in that bridge made of extrinsic semiconductors proving the continuity equation to be wrong… :P aahh… I didn’t get that too... anyways… Later

I’m coming home

As everyone around me began to gear up for the first exam of 2nd year, day after tomorrow( some mid-semester exam), I decided to take some time out and put down in words about this past week; and also the coming week which has tortuous exams to go through. As in the story the beast comes before the beauty, similarly exams have to come before a vacation so that we can spend them being miserable about the exams.

As I rolled my eyes over the IRCTC site looking forward to the wait list movement where I am waitlisted in, I realize that some things in life are not meant to be learnt, or discussed, they are just supposed to happen. After the ultimate enjoyment of my roommate’s birthday party last night, I was just pondering what it was like; this past week. Things started going wrong from the very beginning of the week, as I’ve been diligently waking up at 10am missing my first half classes every bloody day of the week, which is not at all good for my “healthy” attendance report. My pen drive went missing; cell phone display was out; watch froze. And lastly laptop is also down with some GFX problem, which turns it off abruptly… oh… it’s gone again… aghhh… :x

Now, just one more week left before going back home. And I don’t know what this coming week have in store for me. It is said that every cloud has got a silver lining; I believe this week would bring me some good luck. I suddenly realize that nothing is better than HOME, a place I’ve always wanted to stay away from. As my laptop is screwed up, cell phone display is out, watch is off and my PNR status shows no change… there’s only one thing to say… no matter what… DAD, I’m coming home…

Slow Sunday…and Mundane Monday

As I sit on my bed with puffy eyes and tousled hair on a Sunday, I can’t help writing a post. After having absolute blast for the fresher’s party yesterday I’m back to my normal listless life again. Now, before moving on, a piece of advice. Don’t sleep for ten hours straight. Your body aches, eyes look puffy and you lose almost half of a new day. And that is not something that you may reclaim.

                                                                    garfield

Sunday is that day of the week, when you have loads of plans, but do not intend to execute them in any way. For me it is synonymous with a sleep that lasts right up to lunch passing breakfast on its way. Then my attention shifts towards my deteriorating personal hygiene which reminds me to at least wash my face before having anything. Somehow the night passes and Monday takes over. Monday is the day when everything goes wrong right from the start. As you sleep till lunch on a Sunday, you forget that this respite is quite short lived, as in the very next day you’ve to be there in your electronics lab by 7 in the morning without any fail to face a viva. Although you know that you’re going to be screwed, having the panel in fits of laughter at your answers, you can’t avoid giving answers as it looks even dumber if you remain silent. After 5 long hours of pure agony, the “monday” lunch is something you don’t really look forward to. Add to that the misery of writing practicals and assignments and you can have some idea what hell looks like. And this is not the end, as rest of the day is spent worrying about the 6 continuous lectures the next day.

Just two more weeks to go before my painful pre mid-sem classes comes to an end. Have my durgapuja vacations from 11th which are purportedly the most important vacation of any bengali’s life. The exam schedule is out. 4th is the D-day. Preparations are about to start. Hopefully, they will start before the exams. As I achieved a new level in IcyTower and completed new challenges in FIFA, my life rolls on towards a certainly uncertain future. Before I turn philosophical, I think I should wrap up this post. Also, I’ve to wash my formal shirts if I am to attend my labs tomorrow.

Lock n Load

It’s eighteen minutes past 3, and I can still hear the guns reloading and being fired in the two rooms next to me. It was not very long before when I too used to stay awake at this time engaged in that very business. Definitely it’s “Counter Strike” which is keeping all of them awake till now. And I bet that no time can be better for writing a blog about it.

I’d always heard about gaming over LAN and I finally managed to experience it last year and it was none other than the most widely played tactical first-person shooter game “Counter Strike” or simply CS. Finally a new task added to my daily routine. Late night CS became more of an addiction than an entertainment itself. In no time I acquired all shooting skills and in rare cases anyone survived once I’ve spotted them. My friends always admired my assaulting, stealth and other skills but kept on warning me about my lack of strategies. I never understood what they meant until one day an enemy ambushed me, that too with a knife. If you’ve ever played CS you’ll know that it is the most absolutely horrible thing that can happen to you in this game. I learnt watching my back from that incident. Soon my strategies started getting better and it really helped out my clan and me to win rounds. We “practiced” near about 10 hours daily in order to sharpen our game-play techniques. We won several matches against different clans and were on the top of the tree in no time. You know it’s really very exciting when you’re the only one left in your team and all of a sudden you win the round with three consecutive headshots that too with a DEAGLE.

Days passed, and this CS mania began to die out in me. Up until today I couldn’t really figure out the reason, was it academics or just me. Sometimes playing one or two rounds on my friend’s system feels awesome however I am no more interested in playing it for playing’s sake. Now every time the server re-spawns and the guns cock it feels like something is missing. CS is no more, it’s Locked n it can’t Load…

The FIRST GAME

Games n gaming had always been a very important aspect of my life. I love gaming in a different way. For me gaming is just for fun, nothing more than that, not the professional way. I take a little more time to adjust with any game than anyone else might be a drawback of me, but I’m crazier than that. Now leave it. Most of us always remember that game with which anyone starts gaming, the one in which we get maximum fun and the one in which we acquire maximum dexterity. You  know it gets really boring when you’ve played each map of counter strike a zillion times and tried every possible way in a stealth game on which you can lay your hands on..

I still remember very clearly the day when I enjoyed my first game. It was when I was in 4th standard.  We’re taken to a new place which everyone called a “computer lab”. I was pretty excited about what it would be like. That day was more of a demo class and we're taught about some stuff in MS Paint. Computers were the in thing back then. The class ended soon and all students were made to sit on one computer so that they could keep a good view of what we were up to. When everybody was busy discussing their painting, me & my friend were cracking jokes on the mouse and finally ended on a fight to get control over it. During the fight, mouse buttons clicked and the screen went black. By the time we’re blaming each other, the screen came to life once again with some photos of bikes and written below it was “ROAD RASH”.

As usual it grasped attention of other students and the teacher as well. The teacher came and made himself comfortable on a chair and before he could say anything I exclaimed, ” he did it“ , pointing a finger towards my friend. Teacher didn’t react to my statement and started telling us what actually happened. Then he started a new race. All of us were damn excited and everything going on there on the screen felt so real and challenging. As the accused one my friend was passed the control over the next course of the race. It was too hard for him to keep the bike on track. Despite being kicked and thwacked by opponents and falling down about 50 times off the bike he managed to end up second but last. Everyone wanted a chance to race but the class was over and they were promised the next class. Everyone went back happily talking about the race except me, who was left grunting for accusing him… I realized I missed my first chance to race. But that’s okay , it was The FIRST GAME of many to come…
